Kicad Add 3d Model. To assign a 3d model to a footprint open the module properties dialog and enter the 3d settings tab. The testing process down as far as i can get it.
Once you ve created your schematic and converted it to a pcb you can choose view 3d viewer and as long as you ve got standard components then you ll see a 3d model. Select the tab 3d settings and click add 3d shape in the upper right corner.
You can download the kicad lib file to follow this example. The kicad 3d model libraries are the individual 3dshapes directories. The footprint looks like this. Once selected the schematic symbols pcb footprints and 3d models are immediately available for use and placement.
